One of my favorite things about going to a pub is getting to watch sports all day and night over great food and cold beer. When I first moved to Rhode Island I came from the other side of the country and did not have friends in the area. It was a bold move, but I had to do it for school. So, before I knew anyone I figured if I went to the one of the many Rhode Island Irish Pubs I might be able to make some friends, even if just for the night. It worked and I have become a big fan of pubs because of it. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming that I feel I can sit there all day long as if it were my own living room.
How, one of my favorite things to do is spend my Sundays at my local pub watching football or basketball with friends and strangers alike. They have the food I like and the prices are reasonable. It is a great form of escapism for me and it allows me to let go one last time before the work week begins again.
the few pubs that I like compete this a lot of the Bristol, RI restaurants in the area. Some are more geared toward formal dining, but they frequently have a bar area where you can sit and have a drink while watching a game. The difference for me is the leisurely attitude of the pub that is more comfortable and less stuffy than most restaurants. Because they have food that is usually just as good at the more traditional restaurants you don’t feel like you are losing out on the value of your dollar. You get just as good of food but with the better atmosphere that is more relaxed and comfortable.
