The Hahn Estates and Smith and Hook Winery came together after a purchase in 1980 and Hahn has enjoyed the partnership ever since.

With a variety of labels produced on site, total production has reached well over a half milliopn cases of wine per year, making it an outstanding choice as a wine gift or simply as a place to stop and try a wide variety of wines at different price points.

The lower priced wines in the Hahn portfolio tend to offer the best value as I haven’t been incredibly excited about any of the high end offerings that I’ve tried as of yet. That’s not to say it won’t work in the future, because the family clearly has the ability to make world class wine at any price point and the means and facility to do so. The house style if restrained and medium bodied which makes the wine good choices to accompany food. That might make this more of a critique of my palate which is probably more new world wine heavy than I’d really like it to be. Restrained just doesn’t happen often and I’ll be interested to continue tasting these wines as time goes by and my palate (I hope) becomes more refined.
